Highlands Environmental Solutions, Inc. has an opportunity for a professional geologist with primary experience in environmental consulting and services.  We are a growing company with plenty of variety of challenges for the right individual.  Below are the qualities we are seeking for this opportunity.

Position

  • Must be licensed in North Carolina. Licensed in South Carolina, Virginia or Georgia would be helpful
  • Degree in Geology, minimum BS, MS desirable
  • 10 year’s experience minimum
  • Extensive environmental consulting experience
  • Chemistry knowledge helpful
  • Hands on capability
  • Remediation experience required
  • Land acquisition experience
  • Site assessments – M&A, UST/AST, Brownfield Assessments, etc.
  • Insurance and litigation experience – expert witness
  • Safety training/presentation experience
  • Rapid response during emergency incidents
  • Planning and prevention service experience, such as Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures (SPCC) Plans, Stormwter Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), and custom-tailored documents

Position Challenges

  • Experience and ability to identify client projects and gain the client’s trust to solve whatever environmental challenge they encounter
  • Identify potential projects with clients that may be in their best interest, but they can’t see it as they do not have your expertise
  • Extensive broad experience consulting with clients in multiple industries such as, trucking/transportation, convenience store/gas stations, travel centers, real estate, insurance, banking, construction, utilities, municipal government, DOD, mining, chemical industry, manufacturing, etc.
  • Extensive experience managing field projects (project management) from small to large, utilizing subcontractors
  • Possess extensive knowledge of environmental regulations, compliance requirements at the state and federal levels
  • Ability and experience to communicate technical information and ideas to cleints who are non-technical and non-conversant with environmental issues, procedures, solutions, nomenclature
  • Extensive experience of technical writing of reports and other professional information and documents
  • Experience and skills in providing presentations to clients and outside organizations
  • Experience and accomplished at increasing a client base by increasing existing client business and developing new clients
  • Innovative and creative at solving client problems that may be different that what competitors do and may be more cost effective for the client
  • Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of client organizations
