Pali Consulting is seeking a staff geologist to join our team! This is a full-time position of approximately 40 hours per week. About Pali Consulting:
Pali Consulting was founded in 2018 by Tim Blackwood, PE, GE, CEG/LEG. Tim has 30 years of experience in natural hazards evaluation and mitigation both at Pali and in various senior engineering positions at Pacific Northwest geotechnical firms. Pali Consulting was born out of his desire for a boutique consultancy with the flexibility to take on a wide range of interesting projects both small and large. With a full-time staff of three and contributions from additional part-time staff, we also frequently work with other consultancy firms to take on larger projects.
What You'll Do:
This position will perform a wide variety of work, including site explorations, field reconnaissance and mapping, geological analyses and interpretation, geologic background review and research, report writing, laboratory testing, construction monitoring, and instrumentation installation and monitoring. This position is based out of our West Linn, Oregon, office. However, we offer a flexible work environment with a combination of in-office, remote, and field work locations. Occasional out of town travel is required in Oregon, Washington, and Hawaii, primarily, and usually for a week or less in duration.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have a master’s degree in geology with a focus on engineering geology. We are targeting 0 to 5 years of experience for this position, and may hire at a staff or project level depending on experience, skillset, and interest. Geologic field skills, excellent interpretive and writing skills, the ability to navigate in remote terrain, and knowledge and familiarity of GIS systems are important skills that this position will require, as well as the ability to work and solve problems independently. A GIT and other industry certifications are desirable. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree will be considered with coursework and/or experience that provides a similar skill set. Training for rope access to complete rockfall work (SPRAT I), may be required.
This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to navigate steep and uneven terrain in all weather conditions, to lift and carry loads up to 50 pounds, and employment documents as required by applicable state and federal laws.
